I am Melissa St.Pierre.
I am a full time wife, daughter, friend, teacher, writer, and shoe lover.
I write creative non-fiction. My favorite genre is memoir. I think that everyone has a story and there is something to be learned from each person that comes into our lives. I tell stories. It’s what I do.
I write about growing up in Michigan, teaching, and the silly situations that I find in everyday life. My writing is often reflective and tells the truth as I see it. I use humor but I also write about topics that matter and are universal.
My favorite writers are Cecelia Ahern and Marissa de los Santos. I’ve read _The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man_ seven times. Each time, I appreciate how Joyce can complicate the language and anger my brain, but I keep coming back for more. One of these days, I’ll woman up and read Ulysses. My favorite poets are Deborah Garrison, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Frank O’Hara, and Neruda. I also adore non-fiction and Elizabeth Gilbert and Cheryl Strayed are two of my spirit animals. I also look to Frank McCourt for word of wisdom as well.
